This is a truly magnificent National Park and is the most visited in Australia with good reason. Both places are spectacular at any time of the year!
Uluru is the Worlds largest Rock! It is a single rock of single rock type (Uluru arkose) known as a Monolith and stands 348 metres above ground. It is 9.2km around the base and goes underground a considerable amount!
Kata Tjuta is the big sister of Uluru, made up of Conglomerate Rocks, and located within the same National Park. It is 21 km as the crow flies from Uluru and 50 km on the road. The road to Kata Tjuta was carefully designed with consultation from the local Indigenous Owners (Anangu) to avoid areas of cultural significance, and with the non-Indigenous Board Members (Pirampa), to allow the best views for the visitors.
Both areas hold great reverence to both Indigenous and non-Indigenous. There are myriad of stories available to learn from the Tjukurpa (Dreamtime) about Uluru, but conversely none available to learn about Kata Tjuta. Both Rocks are popular with the non-Indigenous for Sunset and Sunrise, and the various walking tracks available within the Park.
If you want to come and see and learn far more about it from both perspectives, please have a look at our options.

A 2 Day/ 1 Night Accommodated tour. Accommodation is at your own expense. Discovery Tours NT will pick you up directly from your flight into Ayers Rock Airport (Connellan Airport) and transfer you directly to your accommodation to check in. We then spend the afternoon visiting Australia’s best kept secret, Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) where we take you on a guided walk, before heading towards Uluru Sunset Viewing area. Here we experience the fantastically magical sight of the sunset over Uluru where we will provide you with Champagne/Beer and nibbles. Once the darkness comes, we will head back to Yulara (Ayers Rock Resort) and drop you off at your accommodation for the evening, and a chance to refresh before Day two.
Day two, starts with an early pick up, in order to be in plenty of time to see the Uluru sunrise. We have our own special place to watch, trying to avoid the huge crowds, and we will provide a Continental breakfast with hot drinks, and juice, so you don’t have to queue at the Resort at a ridiculously early time! After the marvel of sunrise, we will take you to various starting points for your morning walk at Uluru. Your super experienced guide will join you at Mutit Julu waterhole to explain the Dreamtime stories and view the ancient art, before meeting up with you again for the second guided walk, known as the Mala Walk, near to the old climbing area.
Time permitting, we visit the Uluru Cultural Centre to learn some more of the Tjukurpa stories, before heading back to the Resort either to stay another night or get dropped to the airport. The trip can also finish and start in Alice Springs if needed.
Minimum numbers of two passengers are required to guarantee departures, and a maximum of ten, so if you have a group booking, please let us know. This tour departs daily. Park entry is not included and can be purchased on the gate or online beforehand.
Design your own itinerary to take full advantage of Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park, seeing just what you want to see and how you would like to do it!
We can make a package suitable to all needs and wants, depending on budget and whether you would like to charter our services personally, or you have a group of friends who you would like to travel with.
Your guide at Discovery Tours NT first started guiding here in the early 1990’s and has seen a huge amount of change, some good and some not so! He has thirty years’ worth of acquired knowledge and stories from both the Tjukurpa (Dreamtime) and European side and will blend as much or as little information into your trips as you would like. As well as the accumulated Indigenous knowledge over the years, he has completed the Uluru Knowledge For Tour Guides Certification at Charles Darwin University, Senior First Aid Certificate, Ochre Card (working with Children) ROC (Respect our Culture) and Eco Accreditation along with the highest level of Professional driving licence available.
You are booking something unique and special, and the service provided is second to none. We will aim to avoid large crowds as much as possible during your visit and you will receive a very personalised tour charter if you book with Discovery Tours NT.
